Paneled interiors in the latest color schemes are always in demand. But decorators do not always have the time and facilities for making suitable lay-outs. These diagrams and lay-outs have been arranged by our Decorative Department. They represent some of the most practical room arrangements and are best adapted to the purposes listed below.
For a Hall, Use Diagram No. 1 or 3.
For a Parlor, use Diagram No. 8.
For a Living Room, use Diagram No. 8.
For a Dining Room, use Diagram No. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6.
For a Bed Room, use Diagram No. 6 or 7.
For a Confectionery or Ice Cream Parlor, use Diagram No. 2 or 4.
For a Nursery, use Diagram No. 4.
Diagram No. 1 when used for a Dining Room
Use the grades in the numbered spaces as specified below:
Space No. 1 is the baseboard
Space Nos. 2 and 4 may be of Lin-o-wall, Burlaps, Leather effects, or plain Oatmeal. If you use Lin-o-wall then omit No. 3.
Space No. 3, use a 1 ½ inch panel moulding and make the panels to conform with the amount of wall space you have; sometimes long and other times short, to suit the condition.
Space No. 5, use a three inch chair rail or band border.
Space No. 6, use a plain or nearly plain paper for a stile.
Space No. 7, use either a 1 ½ inch panel moulding or a small band border.
Space No. 8, use a figured paper.
Space No. 9, use a band border or a wide cornice moulding.
Space No. 10 is the ceiling, kalsomine or paper.
Diagram No. 2 when used for a Dining Room
Space No. 1 is the baseboard.
Space No. 2, use Lin-o-wall, Burlap or some other material which is heavy enough for the purpose of making a dado.
Space No. 4, use a plate shelf, chair rail or band border.
Space No. 5, use a plain or nearly plain paper for stiling.
Space No. 6, use a band border or 1 ½ inch panel moulding.
Space No. 7, use a plain or preferable figured paper appropriate for such a room.
Space No. 8, use a band border or cornice moulding.
Space No. 9, use a plain or figured ceiling.
Diagram No. 2 when used for an Ice Cream Parlor
Space No. 1 is the baseboard.
Space No. 2, use Lin-o-wall, Burlap, Sanitas or imitation Onyx paper.
Space No. 4, use a plate shelf or band border.
Space No. 5, use a plain or nearly plain paper for stiling.
Space No. 6, use a 1 ½ inch panel moulding or a small band border.
Space No. 7, use some attractive paper, such as Scenic Views or Figures.
Space No. 8, use a wide cornice moulding, band border or panoramic frieze.
Space No. 9, use a plain or figured paper.
Diagram No. 3 when used for a Dining Room
Space No. 1 is the baseboard.
Space No. 2, and No. 4 can be of Lin-o-wall or Burlap. If Lin-o-wall, omit No. 3, if Burlap, use No. 3.
Space No. 3, use 1 ½ inch panel moulding and make panels to suit the space.
Space No. 5, use 3 inch chair rail.
Space No. 6, use wall paper.
Space No. 7 may be a cornice moulding or band border.
Space No. 8, use plain or figured paper.

Use as described for Dining Room, except that papers suitable for a hall should be chosen.

Space No. 1 is baseboard.
Space No. 2, use Lin-o-wall, Burlap or Leatherette.
Space No. 3, use 1 ½ inch wood stile – panel strips.
Space No. 4, use 4 inch or 6 inch plate shelf.
Space No. 5, use any paper suitable for the upper thirds.
Space No. 6, use a wide cornice moulding or band border.
Space No. 7, use a plain or figured ceiling.
Diagram No. 4 when used for a Confectionery Store
Space No. 1 is the baseboard.
Space No. 2, use Lin-o-wall, Burlap, imitation Onyx paper, Sanitas or varnished tile paper.
Space No. 3, use 1 ½ inch wood stile panel strips.
Space No. 4, use 4 inch or 6 inch plate shelf.
Space No. 5, use a Scenic View or any of the other many papers suitable for such a store..
Space No. 6, use Panoramic Frieze, wide cornice moulding or band border.
Space No. 9, use plain or figured ceiling.
Diagram No. 4 when used for a Nursery
Space No. 1 is the baseboard.
Space No. 2, use some washable and indestructible material, such as Lin-o-wall, Sanitas or Varnished Tile.
Space No. 3, use 1 ½ inch wood stile panel strips.
Space No. 4, use 4 inch or 6 inch plate shelf. This will serve to put the baby's toys on.
Space No. 5, use nursery pictures, made in bright colors and placed in panels, the latter to be made to suit the different spaces between doors and windows and above plate shelf.
Space No. 6, use a cornice moulding, band border or panoramic frieze, depicting animals, Indian scenes or other appropriate subjects.
Space No. 7, use a plain, nearly plain or bird ceiling.
Diagram No. 5 when used for a Dining Room
Space No. 1 is the baseboard.
Space No. 2 stile – make of plain or nearly plain paper.
Space No. 3, use 1 ½ inch panel moulding or a small band border.
Space No. 4 and No. 5, use a bird paper or any of the other many papers.
Space No. 6, use a cornice moulding or band border.
Space No. 7, use a plain or figured ceiling.
Diagram No. 6 when used for a Dining Room
Use the same as in Plate No. 5
Diagram No. 6 when used for a Bed Room
Use the same as in Plate No. 5, but select papers suitable for bed rooms.
Diagram No. 7 when used for a Bed Room
Space No. 1 is baseboard.
Space No. 2 narrow band border.
Space No. 3 main paper for wall.
Space No. 4 border to match paper used in space No. 3.
Ceiling can be plain or figured.
Diagram No. 8 when used for a Living Room
Space No. 1 is baseboard.
Space No. 2, use a plain or nearly plain paper as stiling.
Space No. 3, small band border.
Space No. 4, use main paper for wall.
Space No. 5, use the cut out border which is made for the main wall.
Space No. 6 is picture moulding placed 18 inches from the ceiling.
Space No. 7 is the ceiling brought down on the wall to the picture moulding.
Space No. 7 and No. 8 Ceiling can be plain or figured. |
